Realism
Roger Somville was born in Brussels in 1923. He brought the realistic attitude and the "Realistic Movement" to an international level.
He studied at the Royal Academy or Fine Arts in Brussels, then in the Cambre where the painter Charles Counhaye showed him the way to an expressive and colossal art.
In 1954, he created the "Art and Reality" movement in 1969, and in 1979 "The Collective Public Art" offering new prospects to several generations of creative artists.
He created numerous mural works, ceramics, and acrylic frescoes on concrete.
There have been many retrospective, private exhibitions, such as in Clermont, in April 1998 and Courpière, at Atelier 4 during the summer 1998.
Many of his works are in museums in Germany, Sweden, China, Italy, France, Portugal, Belgium....
The Brussels painter died the Monday 31 March 2014 in Tervuren at 90 years old. ...
